Mr. & Mrs. Johnson
There are some things in life that can only be explained as being a God-ordained connection. And there’s some people that can only be explained as downright authentic and Jesus-filled. Emily and Jarren are those kind of people, and the way God brought me into their lives to photograph their special day really ministered to me. Emily reached out to me online all the way from Florida as she began planning her destination wedding in Sevierville. Her family is from Florida and Jarren’s family is mainly from Ohio. So it was fitting that Tennessee be a good halfway point for their families to come together to celebrate!
Their chosen venue, the Enchanted Valley Barn, was something out of a fairy tale. Truly a hidden gem with some rich history! It was the perfect setting for their wedding. The girls were happily getting ready up in the quaint cottage on the hill as a small storm rolled through. It cooled everything down nicely! In the barn loft across the lane, Jarren and the guys were suiting up for the big day. Emily had a special box of love letters and prayers delivered over to Jarren for him to read privately before the day. Moments like those really set the tone and remind me what is really important among all the festivities.
Back at the cottage, Emily’s mother helped her into her gown and soon after, she gave gifts to her parents and soon to be parents-in-law. One thing that really stood out to me was that they all gathered around Emily and prayed over her and her new marriage. It was truly a special moment! As she made her way downstairs, she had a special prayer time with Jarren from either side of the doorway before the festivities. I think it is so important for brides and grooms to have some quiet time together before the day begins, even if they don’t see each other yet. Shortly after, she had a first look with her dad on the porch that left me teary-eyed!
As guests were arriving at the pavilion, soft acoustic guitar music was played by one of Emily’s relatives that sent a soft excitement among everyone. As the rain softened and the birds began to sing, Emily made her way down the aisle, beaming with her father as they approached her groom, tearing up with joy. Their ceremony really stood out to me because all of the guests were truly celebratory at each part of the ceremony. Everyone cheered loudly after Emily and Jarren shared their hand-written vows and tied a unity knot together. It made me so happy to see so many people cheer for their loved one’s marriage like some people cheer for a sporting event. I think more weddings should be like that! After they exchanged rings and shared a prayer, they sealed their marriage with a kiss!
I stole Mr. and Mrs. Johnson away for a few minutes for pictures where we strolled around the pond, on the dock, through the apple orchard and back to the barn for dinner. Once we returned, the guests gave Mr. & Mrs. Johnson a warm welcome as they shared their first dance as husband and wife! Jarren and Emily each shared a traditional dance with their parents and Emily and her dad surprised everyone as they began to dance to the slow song, “Butterfly Kisses,” but then the music quickly changed tempo to a fun remix where they performed a choreographed dance routine! It really got the guests excited! At the end of a delicious meal, the best man and maid of honor gave touching and heartfelt speeches, followed by a champagne toast. Emily and Jarren played the humorous shoe game making everyone laugh out loud at their responses to the cute couples questions they were asked about each other. After cutting the yummy cake, everyone cut a rug and danced the night away to some fun party favorites! I learned a few dance moves from Emily’s family as they swayed to bachata and salsa music! My hispanic husband really loved those songs!
As dusk set in and the candles glowed, everyone gave a warm farewell to the happy couple with a proper sparkler send-off. It was truly a magical day despite a little rain! Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Johnson!
