Mr. & Mrs. Morley

There’s nothing I enjoy more in the springtime than weddings! Emily and Michael were a dream to photograph and I loved every moment of their special day. Their joy and love for each other was truly infectious and their wedding radiated Christ from beginning to end.

The bridesmaids were bustling about getting their hair and makeup done while the guys were getting suited up. During that time, Emily and Michael exchanged gifts to each other separately. Michael gave Emily a gorgeous bracelet and a sweet letter! Emily gave Michael a watch and also a heartfelt letter. It was so sweet seeing their reactions in anticipation of becoming husband and wife.

Since they wanted to keep seeing each other a surprise for the ceremony, I found a private stairwell where they could pray together without seeing each other. That moment impacted me so much because they prayed the most heartfelt, worshipful prayer together that really set the tone for the rest of the day. It was truly a one in a million moment.

The church was adorned with lovely roses and welcome signs with an interactive box where guests could write well-wishes on wooden hearts as a keepsake for the happy couple. As guests settled in the sanctuary, a hush went over everyone as soft piano and violin music played. After the bridal party entered, it was if we all went breathless as a bagpipe player in authentic Scottish-wear magnificently announced the bridal entry. As I see Emily being escorted down the aisle by her father, I look over and I’m overwhelmed by the swell of emotions Michael has as he sees his bride making her way to him for the first time. It was the purest form of joy I have ever seen! I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room.

Emily and Michael shared in holy communion together in addition to exchanging personal hand written vows! The words of love and commitment they pledged to one another were truly original and from the heart. After exchanging rings, they sealed their marriage with a kiss!

They made a grand entrance at the reception and immediately cut the cake and had a coffee bar to go with it! Emily and Michael then shared a first dance and then with their parents. You could tell they loved dancing with each other and with their friends! After tossing the bouquet and garter, their loved ones sent them off with a proper bubble exit!

I think what stood out to me the most about their wedding was that Christ was front and center. I am so blessed as a wedding photographer to be able to interact with brides and grooms so closely and in the behind the scenes moments when oftentimes stress and negative emotions can really show. But even in the behind the scenes moments, Emily and Michael along with their families were nothing but kind, joyful, full of grace and love for each other! They truly focused on the most important thing, the unity of Emily and Michael with Christ.
